About this tool

Drop a PDF, then click existing text on any page to edit it where it appears — no copy-pasting or exporting to Word. The same workspace supports text highlights, AcroForm filling, page reordering, rotation and deletion, plus watermarks and page numbers. The interface and previews run in your browser; Apply sends the PDF and queued operations over HTTPS for transient server-side processing.

Inline text editing replaces the original glyphs using PyMuPDF's text-replacement pipeline. Your edit keeps the original baseline and color; font size is preserved when the replacement fits, while longer text may shrink to fit the available width. Where the original used an embedded custom font, we substitute the closest match from PDF's 14 standard fonts. The Decorate button opens a dedicated modal for watermarks and page numbers. Pages mode lets you reorder, rotate, or delete whole pages without losing the rest of your edits.

How it works

  1. Drop your PDF

Drag a PDF onto the upload area or click to pick one. We extract every visible text span so you can edit it directly.

  2. Click any text to edit it inline

In Text mode, every text span on the page becomes clickable. Click a word or sentence and an editor opens right on top of the original — type your replacement and confirm.

  3. Switch modes for highlights, forms, or pages

Annotate mode turns clicks into yellow highlights. Form mode lists detected fields for you to fill. Pages mode shows thumbnails for reordering, rotating, and deleting whole pages.

  4. Apply your edits

Edits queue up as a list of pending operations — undo and redo work freely. Click Apply to send the file and the op list to the server, which renders the edits into a fresh PDF.

  5. Download the edited PDF

The edited file streams back as a download. Each Apply call uploads the original and the full operation list; uploaded files are not intentionally retained after the request.

When to use it

  • Updating an outdated address, phone number, or date in an old PDF.
  • Correcting a typo, name, reference number, or amount in an existing text field.
  • Filling a detected AcroForm without printing or scanning.
  • Highlighting key sections of a long document for a colleague's review.
  • Reordering scanned pages and deleting pages you no longer need.
  • Adding a repeated watermark or page numbers before sharing a document.

Frequently asked questions

Can I edit any text in the PDF?
Text mode can replace text spans that the PDF exposes as text. Click a word, sentence, or block and an inline editor opens where it appears. Text baked into a raster image, such as a scanned page, is not directly editable; OCR can make it searchable, but it does not turn the visible scan into editable layout text.
Will the original font be preserved?
Best-effort. If the original PDF embeds a custom font, we substitute the closest match from PDF's 14 standard fonts (Helvetica, Times, Courier, plus their bold and italic variants). Color is preserved. Font size stays the same when the replacement fits; longer text may shrink to fit the original width.
What happens if my replacement text is longer?
The editor keeps the original baseline and tries the original font size first. If the replacement is too wide, it reduces the font size to fit the existing text area. Use the preview before applying a substantial length change.
Which page-level changes are available?
Pages mode lets you reorder, rotate, and delete whole pages. The Decorate dialog can also apply a text watermark or page numbers to selected pages.
Can I rotate or reorder pages?
Yes. Switch to Pages mode in the toolbar to see every page as a thumbnail. Drag thumbnails to reorder, click the rotate button to spin a page 90°, or send a page to the trash to drop it. Changes preview live and are written to the file when you Apply.
What about filling out form fields?
Switch to Form mode. Detected AcroForm fields appear in the sidebar with the field name and current value — fill them in, apply, and the values are rendered into the PDF. Both text fields and checkboxes are supported.
